India being second largest producer of silk in the world have unique distinction in the field of sericulture and producing four varieties of silk namely mulberry, tasar, eri, muga. Silk has continued to be in power supreme over other textile fibres i.e. natural (cotton, wool, jute) and man-made fibers (rayon, nylon, polyester, viscose, etc). Due to its exclusive beauty, it is called the Queen of Textiles. No ceremony/event is complete without silk made articles i.e. apparel saries, showls, fabrics and other dress materials of handlooms being used. Silk saries are the only wear for women internationally often at social and other ceremonial occasions. 

Silk Varieties: 

Mulberry Silk: Mulberry cultivation is a major thing which is determining the quality and quantity of production and causing popularity and profitability of sericulture and varieties in all voltines. 
Tasar silk is the product of secretion from the silk glands of Antheraea mylitta and Antheraea proylei, the tropical and temperate Tasar silkworms respectively. Tasar has copperish coloured silk and not possess the lustre. 
Eri Silk is also famous as Endi or Errand. It ranks first non-mulberry silk production. Eri cocoons are white and brick red in colour with shades. 
Muga Silk Muga is also obtained from the worms so quite similar to Mylitta and Prolei. The cocoons are fawn coloured, hence the colour of the reeled' silk' is golden* yellow.

Silk

AMLA is famous as Indian Gooseberry with other names i.e. Anola, Amlaki, Emblica etc and deciduous in nature. Amla is an Ayurvedic plant with other purported benefits.
